Reporting Relationship: Reports to WAVAW Program Supervisor
Hours: 21 hours/week,
Remuneration: $26.45/hr, increase to $27.38 after probationary period

Description: WAVAW is seeking applications for a STV Counsellor for a 21 hr/week counselling position. This is a permanent, benefitted position. The STV counsellor will provide direct service within the long term counselling program at WAVAW, including on-going counselling, intake, assessment and referral, co-facilitation of counselling and support groups, and limited supportive counselling for non-offending partners and family members. As well, the STV counsellor will provide occasional back up for women in crisis, as needed.

 Minimum two years of recent supervised experience in counselling adult survivors of childhood abuse and intimate partner violence.
 Extensive training and education in a directly related field, including family systems and child development theories.
 Masters level or equivalent. Knowledge, training and or certification in advanced trauma processing modalities such as EMDR, EFT, Sensiomotor or Somatic resourcing techniques would be an asset.
 Analysis, knowledge and training in trauma counselling.
 Strong feminist analysis of violence against women and direct counselling experience with survivors using a feminist trauma-informed approach.
 Commitment to and practice of anti-oppression.
 Satisfactory criminal record check.
