The Stopping the Violence program delivers counselling to women who have experienced intimate partner violence, sexual abuse and / or childhood abuse as well as trafficked women.
This is a temporary .6 FTE (21 hours per week) position beginning as soon as possible and ending March 31, 2019.
You will work in our Stopping the Violence program providing individual and possibly group counselling to women survivors of childhood abuse, women who have experienced sexual assault and women who have experienced violence in their relationships and / or other trauma.
In order to accommodate the schedules of clients, evening and Saturday hours are required.
The ideal candidate will have:
• A minimum of one year of experience counselling female clients who have experienced domestic violence.
• A clinical framework that includes working from a trauma informed and feminist model of practice and a clear understanding of equity and inclusion and how that is reflected in the therapeutic relationship.
• Solid file documentation practices.
• Language proficiency in Farsi, Korean, Mandarin or Cantonese is an asset as is experience working with First Nations women.
• Master’s Degree in counselling psychology, social work or a related field.
• Current RCC, AAMFT, CCC, or RSW registration or be in the process of attaining registration.
• Specialized training in trauma work or EMDR is an asset.
