EVA BC facilitated four teleconference calls with Stopping the Violence Counsellors, Stopping the Violence and Multicultural Outreach workers, and Community-Based Victim Service workers in April 2016. Each call was two hours long. In total, 109 STVC, ORS and CBVS workers registered for these calls.
Participants were provided with brief updates on current EVA BC activities and then went into open dialogue on topics requested by call participants. Here are just some of the topics discussed: procurement, caseloads, waitlists, issues specific to rural communities, counselling and support programs for men, use of technology in practice, using primary aggressor tool and concerns about women being wrongfully arrested, lack of trauma informed practice in the courts, CVAP denial of claims, and service pressures and funding.
