EVA BC’s Kate Rossiter, Misha Dhillon, and Tracy Porteous, conducted research commissioned by the Office of the Federal Ombudsman for Victims of Crime (OFOVC), identifying the negative impacts and gender disparities of trauma work, and provided recommendations to the OFOVC.
Heidi Illingworth, Federal Ombudsman for Victims of Crime, drew on EVA BC’s research in a letter this year to Hon. Maryam Monsef, Minister for Women and Gender Equity (WAGE) Canada. In her reply, Minister Monsef affirmed that “wellness amongst anti-violence workers is a gender equality issue”.
Please find the research, recommendations, and government correspondence on the OFOVC website – Community-Based Anti-Violence Worker Wellness: A Review of the Literature and Recommendations for the Office of the Federal Ombudsman for Victims of Crime.
