Filing False Immigration Reports Against Partner is “Family Violence,” Judge Rules

A new ruling by the Supreme Court of BC states that filing false immigration reports against a partner constitutes family violence. New Canadian Media reached out to EVA BC’s Associate Executive Director, Ninu Kang, who said: “We agree with the conclusion of the judge that anyone who falsely reports fraud by their spouse to Immigration, knowing that their actions will cause emotional and financial harm to their spouse, is acting maliciously…Such malicious conduct is family violence, pursuant to the Family Law Act”.
