EVA BC Goes to the UN!


EVA BC Executive Director Tracy Porteous and the Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister for Status of Women Canada, participate in the panel on “Engaging Men and Boys in Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls” at the 57th session of UNCSW, March 2013.

During the first week of March 2013, EVA BC’s Executive Director Tracy Porteous travelled to New York as part of the Canadian delegation to the 57th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. The theme of the session was “The elimination and prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls”. From March 4th to March 15th, 6,000 participants from all over the world came together at the United Nations for the largest international meeting on violence against women to ever take place.

Highlighting “Be More Than a Bystander”

Lions_Primary_Logo_CMYK82On March 5th, Tracy delivered a presentation in the session Engaging Men and Boys in Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls that highlighted the work of the “Be More Than A Bystander” campaign, EVA BC’s partnership with the BC Lions Football Club.
