Third Party Reporting of Sexual Assault

This CCWS Information Bulletin – Third Party Reporting of Sexual Assault; March 2014 – provides background and current updates related to Third Party Reporting in BC. Third Party Reports are reports sent to a police department by an intermediary community agency on behalf of a victim of sexual assault. The report itself is a questionnaire that gathers information about the crime and suspect and does not include the name or contact information of the victim. A Third Party Report is not meant to lead into an investigation in and of itself; it is solely a means of engaging sexual assault victims who are reluctant to report to police, but who may want to a) access support and b) let the police to know of a potential sexual predator for police intelligence purposes.
