This Op-Ed in The Star spotlights Bill C-337, also called The JUST Act. If passed, the bill will require all federally appointed judges to complete training in sexual assault law, provide explanations for rulings, as well as ensure that the National Judicial Training Institute provide Canadians with transparency around how many judges complete training annually.
This Op-Ed is written by Caroline Risebroro, president and CEO of Plan Canada; Tracy Porteous, executive director of Ending Violence Association of B.C.; Megan Walker, executive director of the London Abused Women’s Centre; and Arlène Gaudreault, présidente, Association québécoise Plaidoyer-Victimes – Senate Must Pass Bill that Mandates Sex Assault Training for Judges.
