Building Access

The EVA BC Annual Training Forum is located on the main floor of the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel (7551 Westminster Highway, Richmond, BC). To enter the building and access the lobby, guests are directed to the entrance on Westminster Highway. The doors open automatically (there is no button to push). A second entrance is located by the restaurant (to the right of the main entrance) and is accessed by an automatic door with a push button.

The morning sessions with keynotes and other plenary speakers will take place in the main ballroom (Minoru A & B). To enter the main ballroom (where the Keynote and other plenary speakers will be presenting), there is a set of doors with handles to move through. Please note, the doors will be closed once the speakers start. This entrance does not have an automatic door button.

The afternoon workshops take place in various rooms throughout the main floor of the hotel, and vary in size and distance from the main ballroom and hallway. The doors to workshop rooms do not open automatically, but will be propped open prior to the workshop start time.

EVA BC staff will be at the registration table outside of the main ballroom throughout the event, and will be happy to assist as needed.

Plenary Speakers + Workshops Access

Presentation materials (e.g. PowerPoint slides) will be projected onto a screen for those who may experience difficulty positioning themselves towards, or seeing, the speakers’ podium. All plenary speakers have been asked to use a microphone to speak and have been asked to ensure PowerPoint materials follow best practices for accessibility, including minimum font size (18 point) and high colour contrast.

There will be gender-neutral, single-user, and accessible washrooms available for the duration of the Annual Training Forum. While the hotel does not designate gender-neutral washrooms, existing washrooms will be designated as gender-neutral for the duration of the Training Forum (November 28 and 29), the Networking Reception (November 28), and the Annual General Meeting (November 27).

The washrooms designated as gender-neutral will be indicated clearly on signs posted on/near each washroom door, in place of gendered washroom signs. These signs will also communicate to participants the nature of each washroom (e.g., single occupancy; closed stalls; both closed stalls and open urinals), as well as information about other nearby washroom options.

Please note: We are in the process of confirming accessibility details for washrooms, and will update this website with those details as soon as possible.

Name Tags

Participants are invited to indicate their gender pronouns on their Training Forum name tags. When registering through Eventbrite, there is an option to indicate your gender pronouns for inclusion on your name tag. There will also be pronoun stickers available throughout the Training Forum, if you would like to add or change your pronoun sticker(s).

Scent-Free Event

The Training Forum, Networking Reception, and Annual General Meeting are scent-free events. To ensure these events are accessible, we ask that participants help us create a scent-free environment by not using perfume, cologne and other scented products. Any exceptions to the scent-free environment will be communicated to participants in advance.
