Survivor Accessibility Support Resources

You can advocate for the survivor’s accessibility needs by connecting them with the Women’s Health Centre Access Clinic which is based in Vancouver. This clinic provides reproductive healthcare for transgender patients, adolescents (16+) and adult women with intellectual or physical disabilities in BC. A doctor’s referral is not required; survivors can self-refer themselves to the clinic. Click here for more information.

You can also identify what support and accommodation the survivor needs in terms of:

  • Mobility
  • Decision making
  • Emotional support/mental health
  • Hearing
  • Vision
  • Communication
  • People they trust
  • People they don’t want to see (Disability Alliance BC, 2016)

Go to the Disability Alliance’s Right to be Safe guide and Inclusion in Practice guide
for more information.

Go to transportation resources for information on accessibility options for persons with disabilities.
