Pathways Community Service Directory

Pathways Community Service Directory is a searchable online resource that provides access to hundreds of patient and clinician resources and community services in BC.  You can search by community (e.g. Central Okanagan, Fort Nelson) and type of service (e.g., Indigenous services, immigrant and refugee services, youth services).

First Nations Health Authority

The First Nations Health Authority offers a variety of virtual healthcare services to First Nations people in BC who have limited access to healthcare services in their communities or must travel long distances for appointments. Services include the following:

  • The First Nations Virtual Doctor of the Day program was created to make primary healthcare easily accessible to BC First Nations people and their families that do not have access to a doctor.

All First Nations people of all ages who live in BC are eligible for this service, including family members and non-Indigenous family members. Call 1-855-344-3800 toll-free, seven days a week, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm to book an appointment.

First Nations-led Primary Health Centres (FNPCCs)

First Nations-led Primary Healthcare Centres (FNPCCs) are being developed in rural and urban locations across BC. The centres will provide culturally safe, quality primary healthcare services primarily for First Nations people and their families. Indigenous Healthcare Resources

All BC Health Authorities have Indigenous healthcare services that support patients, families and staff and the delivery of culturally safe care. Access to support will vary by location. Please refer to the information below:

Trans Care Resources

Trans Care BC’s health navigation team is a provincial resource that helps Two-Spirit, trans and non-binary people identify health-care system pathways, get information, and find services, resources and supports related to trans health (Trans Care BC, n.d.).  Click here for more information.  

Provincial Language Services

Provincial Language Services provides interpreting services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, free of charge to BC patients and/or their families.  

Persons that are Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard of Hearing are eligible for medical interpreting services if they are residents of BC and enrolled with the Medical Services Plan (PHSA, n.d.).   

Patients and/or their designates can access on-site, over the phone, virtual health visit and video remote spoken and/or sign language interpreting services by asking their healthcare provider to submit a request to Provincial Language Services.  

Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard of Hearing patients and/or their designate should ask their healthcare providers to submit a request for sign language interpreting services to Provincial Language Services. Patients can also request interpreting services through Wavefront Centre for Communication Accessibility.

Women’s Health Centre Access Clinic

This Vancouver-based clinic provides reproductive healthcare for transgender patients, adolescents (16+) and adult women with intellectual or physical disabilities in BC. A doctor’s referral is not required; survivors can self-refer themselves to the clinic. Click here for more information.

Seniors Abuse and Information Line (SAIL) 

SAIL is a confidential information line for older adults and those who care about them to speak to a professional intake worker about abuse, mistreatment and any issues that impact the health and well-being of older adults in BC.

Call 604-437-1940 or 1-866-437-1940 on weekdays 8 am to 8 pm, excluding statutory holidays. Language interpretation is available.

Child and Youth Advocacy Centres (CYACs)

Child and Youth Advocacy Centres (CYACs) provide a coordinated response to child abuse and crimes against children and youth.

CYACs connect children, youth and their families to services such as safety planning and victim support, and assist them to navigate systems including healthcare, criminal justice, and child protection.
