Accessibility

We are currently working with our venue and partners and ensuring that our event meets the needs of all attendees. As information continues to become available to us, we will be adding it to this page.

Please let us know at atf@endingviolence.org or during your registration if you have accessibility needs not addressed by the following items.

To make this event as welcoming as possible for all participants, we are asking that you help us create a scent-free environment by not using perfume, cologne and other scented products.

During the event, if you are seeking time to spend in a quiet space we will have a designated Quiet Room in Gulf Islands A.

You can check the map in our venue information page, or check your participant booklet to find this room.

EVA BC believes that promoting visibility, inclusive programming, and trans-inclusive services is essential to the eradication of gender-based violence. Below are some specific details related to our event and to these values.

  • We will provide stickers for all participants to write their pronouns and attach them to their name tag.
  • You will be able to find the speakers’ and presenters’ pronouns that they have shared with us on our forum speakers page. If a presenter’s profile does not have pronouns included, they have not provided their pronouns for us.
  • During the event, participants will be able to access gender-neutral washrooms. You can find more information on washroom location and details in our venue information page closer to the event date.

Food at our Annual Training Forum 2024 will be served in a “buffet” style. We ask that you please indicate any dietary needs, restrictions, or preferences to us on your registration form.

During this Annual Training Forum, EVA BC intends to co-create a supportive and inclusive environment to honour our needs for wellness as we need each other to be well. Listening to feedback from past events, we are also trying to incorporate more opportunities for networking and wellness activities.

We recognize that the work of anti-violence workers is deeply emotional, as we work against injustice alongside our clients, colleagues, and communities.

The event will have dedicated time slots, space(s), and emotional support persons for participants, as the event can contain topics and discussion that resonate deeply with your experiences and work.

Please protect yourself and others by staying home if you’re not feeling well. This is the safest way to ensure we prevent the spread of contagious diseases during large events like our annual training forum.

Masks and hand sanitizer will be available in the event venue. If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, please do not hesitate to reach out to our staff for further guidance and support.

Wearing a mask is optional and we ask you to respect each other’s choices. While wearing masks is no longer required by public health, we recognize that COVID-19 remains a concern in our communities, especially for people with disabilities, immunocompromised individuals, and people who are caretakers.

We want to make sure we capture beautiful memories of our event in photos, but are also aware that not everyone is comfortable with being on camera. If you don’t want your photo taken, at the event check-in we will have stickers (coloured circle/dot) that you can stick to your lanyard or shirt, to indicate that you would not like to have your photo taken. Our photographer will be briefed and aware not to take photos in which participants with the sticker are visible. If you do appear in any photos, we will know not to use them.

Please note, the photographer will not take photos during workshops or wellness sessions.

Photos that are captured at the event may be used for promotional purposes on our website, in printed materials on our social media and in other communication media as we celebrate the event or in future promotions for the Annual Training Forum and our organization.

If you require guiding assistance at any point during the event, our staff will be available to provide temporary support and find suitable continued support.

Our organization will do our best to develop physical copy of materials and signage that are clear, contrasting and legible for all participants.

If you have low vision and have a preferred seating arrangement, please connect with our EVA BC staff by emailing us at atf@endingviolence.org or by approaching us at the registration desk on the day of the event and we will reserve seats as requested.

We will have closed captioning for the opening session and keynote on day one and during closing on day two. All speakers at the ATF will have microphones.

We want you, as a participant, to show up in the most comfortable way possible, in a way that aligns with and affirms your identity, self expression and supports your own wellness.

Our event has no requirement for formal, semi-formal, or business casual attire.
