Multicultural Outreach Community Worker
Vancouver & Lower Mainland Multicultural Family Support Services

The Multicultural Outreach Community Worker must be proficient in English as well as Punjabi/Hindi/Urdu.  She will provide individual and/or group support and advocacy with immigrant, refugee, visible minority, no immigration status women and their children who are facing gender-based/ family violence.

Minimum Qualifications:    

  • Relevant university Certificate in Social Work/Counselling, one-year relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.

 Other Qualifications:  

  • Knowledge of dynamics of gender-based violence, and acculturation issues impacting immigrant, refugee and visible minority women and their children
  • Experience in providing supportive counselling.
  • Experience in organizing and conducting support groups.
  • Experience in advocating on behalf of vulnerable populations.
  • Ability to be empathetic and sensitive to socio-economic and ethno-cultural values.
  • Effective cross-cultural communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of other languages an asset
  • Knowledge of relevant resources
  • Ability to work effectively with other professionals in the community
  • Proficient in using office equipment and software applications.

Requirement: Satisfactory Criminal Record Check

Hours:  14- 35 hours per week

Pay Range: $26.74 – $30.69- Grid Level 11 JJEP Grid. This position requires union membership.
