EVA BC joins BC Lions for second Orange Shirt Day game

On September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada, we joined with the BC Lions at their second annual “Orange Shirt Day” game where team members of the BC Lions and Ottawa REDBLACKS wore orange spatting and the first 10,000 fans received a complimentary orange t-shirt featuring a logo designed by Kwakwaka’wakw Tlingit artist Corrine Hunt and the Orange Shirt Society’s slogan, “Every Child Matters.” The Orange Shirt Day also takes place on September 30 and honours survivors and intergenerational survivors of the Indian residential school system, and commemorates those who didn’t return home.

As part of this recognition of the National Day, the BC Lions’ partnership also made a $20,000 donation to the Orange Shirt Society.

The BC Lions are the founding partner of EVA BC’s Be More Than a Bystander program.

EVA BC’s executive director, Ninu Kang, was at the game — see above (centre) with members of the BC Lions and the honourable Premier John Horgan.
