Habiba Rashid, who joined EVA BC in 2001, will retire from her position as Director of Finance and Administration this year at the end of June.
EVA BC members across the province know her for her in-depth knowledge, strategic advice, support, and care, earning her the nickname of “mama bear.”
Habiba is a pillar of the organization and our sector. She has been with EVA BC through the many stages of our development and played a key role in shaping our strategic direction. Her commitment to advancing the work, mentoring new staff and members, and innovative thinking demonstrates the kind of value that helps us grow our sector.
“When I started at EVA BC there were only three employees,” says Habiba. “It has grown so much since then, and as a result, so has the impact we have been able to have in service of our mission.”
“I’m so grateful for Habiba who supported me with the historical knowledge and expertise to transition to my role at EVA BC,” says EVA BC’s executive director, Ninu Kang. “We know that staff from the 300 programs we serve across our sector will miss her dearly.”
We have benefited from Habiba’s knowledge of the history of EVA BC and its membership. We will miss her kindness and attention to details that she brings to her work.
On behalf of EVA BC, we wish Habiba all the best in her next adventure.
