DESCRIPTION

The Coordinator is responsible for managing the general operation of the Quesnel Women’s Resource Centre.  She coordinates the activities of the organization, staff, and Collective members and is the main representative of the Centre. She provides support and advocacy services a feminist perspective.  She respects all women’s individual rights, safety, and human dignity, regardless of economic status, gender, race or ethnic origins, physical or mental ability or sexual identity.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Centre, ensuring smooth communication and efficient program delivery.
  • Proactively identify and pursue relevant funding opportunities, and with the direction of our collective, write proposals, and complete application processes.
  • Develop annual budgets for all programs and generate monthly spending reports.
  • Maintain financial records, manage payroll and related payments, and ensure timely bill payments according to policies.
  • Support effective decision-making by preparing agendas, attending meetings, and ensuring reports are readily available.
  • Greet women who come to the Centre and provide whatever assistance is required, including making referrals and crisis counselling when necessary
  • Develop, coordinate, organize, advertise and promote programs and events needed for the Centre and ensure the effective operation of all Centre programs.
  • Oversee and support volunteers and practicum students who contribute to the Centre’s work.
  • Foster a collaborative environment through open communication, staff meetings, and teamwork.
  • Represent the QWRC at community events and committees and write support letters for community initiatives
  • Ensure all contracts are completed according to contract standards
  • Complete necessary communication, reports, proposals, and budgets to foster renewal
  • Maintain internet and phone contracts, manage staff emails and regularly update the website and Facebook page.
  • Coordinate snow removal, lawn care, and insurance policies while ensuring the Centre buildings are well-maintained.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

  • A degree in Social Work (or a related field or equivalent experience).
  • Experience working in a feminist environment and a strong commitment to social justice.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and work independently.
  • A passion for advocacy and helping women reach their full potential.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of financial oversight and grant writing.
  • Strong program development skills and knowledge around second stage housing.
  • Book-keeping skills are an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with women, families, staff, members of the collaborative, other team members, and community members.
