Summary of the role:

As the Family Therapist, you will develop, implement, and evaluate family‑based therapeutic programs and interventions. You will assess clients’ social, psychological, emotional and/or behavioural issues and provide clinical counselling to meet client needs.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work or a related field
  • Two years recent related experience in clinical counselling with families
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong cultural competency and socially inclusive practice.
  • Understanding of and demonstrated skills and ability to work from a feminist perspective.
  • Knowledge of child development, family systems, impact of trauma on children, youth and adults
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ways intergenerational trauma and/or residential schools may impact parenting and parent-child connection
  • Knowledge of family therapy approaches, such as systems theory and attachment theory
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High level of critical thinking and professional judgement.
  • Proven intake and needs assessment skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and coordinate multi-disciplinary case management teams.

A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required for this role
This position requires membership with the BC Government and Service Employees Union- BCGEU
A valid driver’s license and availability of a personal vehicle in good operating condition for work purposes.
Archway Society has an Accredited Facility Dog in the Community Programs and the canine may be present in meetings attended by the person in this position.
