“The Comox Valley Transition Society is a Canadian charitable organization providing comprehensive services to the Comox Valley and surrounding communities in collaboration with multiple public and private entities. We are a dynamic organization, constantly seeking to ensure that our programs serve the needs of our communities. In recent years, our organization has seen significant growth. We are currently seeking a Finance Manager who will play an essential role in increasing the impact and sustainability of our programs. The successful candidate will have a degree in Finance and/or be working towards appropriate accreditation as well as a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience. Preference will be given to applicants who has experience working in the not-for-profit sector.
As a key member of the leadership team, the Finance Manager will work collaboratively with the Executive Director, providing strategic financial leadership and guidance and working to develop the long-term financial strategy that will support our current programming and future growth. Reporting to the Executive Director, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring effective internal accounting processes are in place, ensuring financial recording accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP) and adherence to established internal controls. Key responsibilities include the development and management of agency and program budgets, providing financial analysis to support internal decision making, development and analysis of risk management reports, facilitation of our annual audit, forecasting, producing monthly management and Board reports, as well as various reports to our funders and grantors.
This is a multi-faceted role, requiring excellent communication skills, keen analytic ability, and a willingness to adapt quickly within a fast-moving workplace while maintaining accuracy. We are seeking a visionary creative thinker who will enjoy working collaboratively to ensure our organization is compliant with all governmental and internal controls and poised to undertake new challenges as they arise.
