Domestic violence and animal abuse, EVA notes

Share to:

Animal abuse is a “red flag” for the existence of, or potential for, serious domestic violence. An injured pet may be the first indicator to outsiders that abuse is occurring in a home.

This edition of EVA Notes describes some of the ways animal abuse can be linked to domestic violence and offers suggestions for including pets in safety planning. An illustration of the “Power and Control Wheel” of Animal Abuse and Domestic Violence is also included.
