16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

Women and Gender Equality (WAGE) Canada’s 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) campaign kicked off on November 25, the United Nations International Day to Eliminate Violence Against Women.

The theme for Canada’s 2022 campaign is “It’s Not Just” with the double meaning of reminding Canadians of the injustice of GBV, at the same time as bringing attention to how it is not just something that we can dismiss or minimize, and that we need to look at the attitudes and behaviours that contribute to this violence. The campaign points out that gender-based violence is a systemic cycle that all Canadians have a role in ending and it asks all Canadians to take action against GBV by addressing the beliefs and behaviours that perpetuate it.

The 16 Days end on December 10, the United Nations Human Rights Day.
