It is a joy and an honour to get to connect with people from around the province who share the values and understand the profound importance of the work in this sector.
ATF 2026 participant
EVA BC held its Annual Training Forum (ATF) on September 24 and 25 at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre in Vancouver with over 350 members, partners and other guests from across the province coming together for our biggest ATF in recent memory, with rich opportunities for learning and making caring connections.
The theme of this year’s ATF was Power in Action: Collective Response to the systemic crisis of gender-based violence, and attendees participated in a wide range of workshops, wellness sessions and facilitated networking. The theme was highlighted with the opportunity to advocate for funding for the unpaid work done by frontline antiviolence workers leading and coordinating gender-based violence coordination committees.
On the evening of day one, attendees came together for a reception with informal networking, a photo booth, food and refreshments.
Highlights of the ATF included a welcome address from Musqueam Knowledge Keeper, Debra Sparrow; two keynote speakers on day one: Josie Nepinak, president of the Native Women’s Association of Canada (watch her presentation on EVA BC’s YouTube channel and view her presentation slides); and Dr. Lori Haskell, clinical psychologist, researcher and writer, renowned for developing trauma-informed approaches to mental health services, the legal system, and other professional contexts. On day two, participants heard a closing keynote address from: Jennifer Dreyer, Executive Director, Systemic Advocacy, First Nations, Métis and Inuit Research for BC’s Representative for Children and Youth (watch her presentation on EVA BC’s YouTube channel).
