The Agency:
Family Services of the North Shore is an accredited, not-for-profit, community-based agency committed to making a deep and lasting impact on our community through counselling, support, education, and volunteer programs.

The Programs:
The Sexual Assault Response Program (SARP) provides coordinated services for survivors of sexual assault, inclusive of all genders. All residents of North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Bowen Island and Lions Bay are eligible for no cost services.
Survivors can access immediate support 24/7 through the Family Services of the North Shore Agency’s Sexual Assault Support line during regular business hours and after hours through the North Shore Crisis Services Society 24-hour crisis line. We work closely with community partners to ensure easy access and coordinated services.
The Stopping the Violence (STV) program delivers counselling services to women who have experienced intimate partner violence, sexual abuse and / or childhood abuse as well as trafficked women. Services are primarily delivered to individual clients but may also include some group work.
The Job:
This is a permanent .7-1.0 FTE (24.5-35 hours per week) position based on candidate preference.
This position provides clinical counselling services to clients of the SARP program as well as clients of the STV program. Work can be either short-term or longer term depending on the needs and wishes of the clients and your assessment in conjunction with your clinical supervisor.
In addition to your clinical work and file documentation, you will receive regular individual supervision from your Program Manager / Clinical Supervisor. You will also participate in group supervision and team meetings. You are expected to work collaboratively with members of the Agency staff.
To accommodate the schedules of clients, evening hours and potentially Saturdays will be required. You will provide services both virtually and in-person with virtual sessions being held either in the office or from home.
In addition to your clinical work and file documentation, you will receive regular individual supervision from your Program Manager / Clinical Supervisor, attend group supervision and meetings with your team, and work collaboratively as a member of the Agency’s staff.
To accommodate the schedules of clients, evening hours and potentially Saturdays will be required. You will provide services primarily in person. Documentation can be completed remotely.
The Candidate:
You have a master’s degree in clinical counselling, social work or related field, current registration with an accredited, professional organization and a minimum of 2 years of post-master’s degree experience working with adult women impacted by trauma as well as victims of sexual assault. Experience working with people who have been impacted by relationship violence, substance misuse, mental health issues, and poverty is an asset. You understand how the therapeutic relationship may be shaped by social locations of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and ability.

Experience working with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and Indigenous communities would be considered assets.
You understand the importance of excellent file documentation practices as part of clinical practice.
