As we head into 2024, we commit to our vision of a society free from gender-based violence and renew our efforts to support our members and work with our partners on initiatives which include:
Providing support for the 70 new programs now receiving provincial sexual assault services funding, and to the five newly funded sexual assault centres across the province.
Pushing for action on the Calls for Justice for Missing Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
Advancing changes on death review for gender-based violence deaths in BC with improvement of current systems and practices.
Expanding efforts to increase diversity and inclusion with newly developed antiracism and inclusion training for anti-violence workers.
And we will continue to work closely with our members and partners on the roll out of the province’s Safe and Supported, British Columbia’s Gender-Based Violence Action Plan with its stated areas of focus:
Increasing safety and supports for survivors;
- Lifting up Indigenous led approaches;
- Breaking cycles of violence through prevention, healing and accountability; and
- Learning from and monitoring our progress
“Our members work every day to support survivors of gender-based violence,” says EVA BC’s executive director, Ninu Kang. “We look forward to working together with them in 2024 to support their efforts.”
